West Ham United boss David Moyes has revealed that he was left disappointed by star attacker Michail Antonio, on the back of the club’s meeting with Tottenham.
Antonio, as expected, was utilised from the off on Sunday, as Moyes’ Irons made the trip to north London for a Premier League derby showdown with Spurs.
Hopes were high for the hitman ahead of kick-off, after his starring display in the reverse fixture back in October of last year proved decisive in guiding West Ham to a 1-0 triumph.
This evening, however, Antonio struggled, kept largely under wraps by the likes of Cristian Romero and Eric Dier.
And, as alluded to above, one individual who had evidently hoped for more from the Jamaican international was boss David Moyes.
When drawn on the performance of his attacking spearhead post-match, Moyes was not shy in admitting that Antonio failed to ‘reach his level’, in stark contrast to those at the other end of the pitch:
Moyes: “I didn’t think Antonio reached his levels, we need him to play at a really high level. The level of the Tottenham front players was incredible.” #WHUFC

Son at the double
Moyes’ keenness to highlight the ‘incredible’ showing put forth by Tottenham’s frontline of course comes after Lilywhites duo Harry Kane and Heung-min Son proved the difference in the eventual outcome of proceedings in north London this evening.
Amid a stellar all-round showing, hitman Kane laid on not one, but two Son strikes, to guide the day’s hosts to an eventual 3-1 victory:
