Producer Abhay Sinha elected as the president of the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) – Times of India

Producer Abhay Sinha, who had been the senior vice president of the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) for the last 11 years, was elected its president yesterday (9th April) soon after his group had a sweeping victory at the elections to the executive committee held at Valia Hall, Andheri, Bombay.


In the Prime Class, Abhay Sinha’s group bagged all the 16 seats. In the Associate Class-I, two seats went to Abhay Sinha’s group while three seats were bagged by Bokadia’s group. Among TV Programme Producers, the two groups won one seat each. A total of 49 producers were in the fray for 23 seats. In the Prime Class, there were 35 producers in competition for 16 seats. In the Associate Class-I, a total of 11 members were in the fray for five seats. Three TV Programme Producers were battling it out for two seats. Ashoke Pandit polled the highest number of votes in the Prime Class.


Although the newly-elected executive committee will vote the other office-bearers at its meeting on 11th April, it elected Abhay Sinha as the IMPPA president soon after the results of the elections to the executive committee were announced.

A total of 243 votes were cast in the Prime Class. In the Associate Class-I, there were 202 votes cast while for TV Programme Producers, 35 members cast their votes. None of the votes was invalid.
